I am a qualified Interior Designer having obtained my BTech degree in 2012 from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in Cape Town. For my BTech year, I chose to design an Eco-Awareness Centre for the residential market in Claremont, Cape Town. My reasons being that there needs to be a raised awareness of the need to go 'green' and of how to do it. I feel that the general public need to be made more aware of options available to them and how they can have more sustainable lifestyles.
I am inspired by what I see around me and use these ideas in my designs. I enjoy reading and researching around the topic of design and sustainability as I feel that there is a great deal of information worth knowing. I am always eager to expand my knowledge base and create new experiences, growing my skills as a designer.
Outside of a design setting, I am a friendly and well-mannered person with good people and listening skills. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, as well as spending time outdoors in nature. I like to find creative and constructive ways to spend my free time.
Through the course of my studies, I have been exposed to various aspects of interior design including: Residential, retail, commercial, kiosk, exhibition and product design. Through the subject Design Technology, I have gained understanding and skills with regard to building construction (floor, wall, roof, ceiling, staircases, mezzanine, doors, windows, disability ramps), lighting layouts, electrical layouts, drainage drawings, joinery detailing, and council submission drawings.
